Rockwell

The painter of American life. Rockwell is an introduction to Norman Rockwell — the artist whose images shaped how twentieth-century America saw itself, and how the world saw it in return.

From prom scenes and Thanksgiving spreads to returning servicemen and smiling Boy Scouts, Rockwell's works are imbued with optimism, patriotism, community, and family. Brimming with wholesome cheer, they say as much about his considerable artistic gifts as they do about the popular values and aspirations of a nation still figuring out what kind of country it wanted to be — snapshots of an America that, on some level, still lives in the imagination.

The America he saw for us.
