The bohemian mecca, portrayed from the inside. Chelsea Hotel: Portraits from New York's Bohemian Mecca is the classic photo book — winner of the Leica Medal of Excellence — back in print for the first time in decades in a revised and expanded edition.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, eminent Brazilian photographer Claudio Edinger lived and worked in the legendary Chelsea Hotel, capturing its eccentric denizens — famous and obscure — in the rooms where they lived. The volume features original texts by William S. Burroughs, Arthur C. Clarke, and Warhol superstar Viva, alongside an essay by Pete Hamill, additional archival photographs, and a new foreword by writer and actress Alexandra Auder, who grew up in the hotel.

The rooms where bohemia lived.
